Shigeaki Hattori (服部 茂章, November 3, 1963-)is the only NASCAR driver from Japan. He drives the #9 truck for Germain Racing. 2005 was his rookie season in the Craftsman Truck Series. He struggled during the season as he has failed to qualify in several races and was involved in many crashes. Shigeaki was previously an open wheel racer in the Indy Racing League competing in the 2002 and 2003 Indianapolis 500 with a best finish of 20th in 2002. His best IRL finish was a 6th at Texas Motor Speedway in 2002. In his short 1 year stint in CART in 1999 he spun the car 18 times in 7 races and at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca had his CART competition license revoked by chief steward Wally Dallenbach Sr..
