The NASCAR Regular Season is the season period that determines who makes the playoffs in the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series. It is during this critical time that drivers must jockey to stay within the top 8, top 12, or top 16 in points in order to qualify for the playoffs. If a driver is locked out of the playoffs after the regular season finale, he/she cannot earn his/her way into it. At the end of the regular season the driver who has the most points in the standings will become the regular season champion and will be awarded a trophy.
