All of those races came in 1964, when Wilson debuted at Bristol. Starting 35th in the field, Wilson drove to a 20th place finish despite mechanical failure. DNFs were the tale of his year: he failed to finish three of his races, though he still managed to finish in the top-twenty in two of them. Still, Wilson's best run came at Hickory. It was the only race that Wilson was running in at the end of the race and it paid off with a career-best 15th.
