All three came in late 2003, when Hayes signed a deal with Moy Racing to drive their cars. His best run came in his debut, which came at Memphis. Starting 40th (he would also start there in his other races), Hayes fell five laps down but still hung on for a solid 24th place finish. Hayes would also end up 36th at Rockingham and 35th at Homestead-Miami. Despite some tough tracks and a spin at Homestead, Hayes ended up finishing all three of his starts, a fairly impressive accomplishment.
