Burger King is an American based international chain of fast food restaurants. Its menu primarily serves a variety of hamburgers, chicken products, French fries and other sides, soft drinks, coffees, milkshakes, deserts and breakfast items.

In NASCAR, Burger King-sponsored cars typically display flames, images of various menu items, and catchphrases such as ‘Flame-Broiled’ or ‘Have It Your Way’ in their paint schemes.

History[]

Burger King sponsorship began in the Cup Series in 1976 with single race sponsorships of various drivers at Daytona. In 1983, beginning at the Talladega 500 in July, they were a co-sponsor (with Pepsi) of Darrell Waltrip’s #11 car. After the conclusion of that season, Burger King sponsored a few other drivers in single races in 1984, 1985 and 1993.

In 1995, Burger King sponsored a team for the full season for the first time, the #87 NEMCO Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Joe Nemechek. This sponsorship lasted for two full seasons before moving to become one of the first sponsors of Dale Earnhardt, Inc.’s Cup series team, the #14 driven by Steve Park for 4 races in 1997. Burger King was also a co-sponsor of Robby Gordon for 4 races in 2000.

In 2006, Burger King became a co-sponsor of the #00 team owned by Michael Waltrip, initially driven by Bill Elliott. The following season, they sponsored the second half of the season for the #00, now driven by David Reutimann. From 2009 through 2011, Burger King sponsored Tony Stewart for 4 races, usually at the summer Daytona race.

From 2012 through 2015, Burger King was displayed on the cars of a race team named for the company, BK Racing. The team usually ran two cars for various drivers including Landon Cassill, Travis Kvapil, David Reutimann, Ryan Truex, Cole Whitt, J.J. Yeley, and Matt DiBenedetto. It was unclear whether Burger King actually provided funds to the team, or simply allowed the team’s owner to display the company’s logos, as the owner was also the owner of many of the restaurant’s franchises.[1][1]

In the Xfinity Series, Burger King sponsored single races for various drivers in 1983, 1987, 1992, 1993, and 2006.

In the Craftsman Truck Series, Burger King sponsored the #87 NEMCO Motorsports truck driven by John Nemechek for 8 races in 1995.
