Andy Ponstein, born May 2, 1976 in Jenison, MI, is a former NASCAR driver. Ponstein, a long time veteran on the ARCA circuit, also ran some NASCAR races in 2003 and 2004. Andy now races a Sunoco Super Series Template Late Model.

Craftsman Truck Series[]

Ponstein got his feet wet in NASCAR beginning in 2003, when he ran two races for the #70 Bailey Racing Ford. Ponstein did well in his debut, starting 15th at IRP. He finished that race in 24th and then improved at Richmond, where he finished 22nd despite a blown engine.

Busch Series[]

Ponstein started 2004 off with a deal to drive the #39 Yahoo Ford for Jay Robinson Racing. After sitting out Daytona, Ponstein started 30th and would finish 25th in his debut at Rockingham. Oddly, his debut would turn out to be his best run of the year, as he could only manage two other top-30s at Darlington (29th) and Nazareth (27th). Ponstein found the wall three times early in the season, and that brought his release after nine races into 2004. He was replaced by Shane Hall and has not shown back up on the NASCAR scene since.
