The 2005 UAW-GM Quality 500 was a Nextel Cup event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 15, 2005. The event was, to say the least, a disaster. New surfaces and hard tires caused a number of drivers (including Tony Stewart) to wreck 25-30 laps into a tire run. Jimmie Johnson took it easy and on the final run, took the lead and held off Kurt Busch for his fourth and final victory of the year. Johnson used his victory to tie back up with Tony Stewart (25th) in the championship battle. Stats
